Waxahachie, Texas, March 29, 2005 -- Believing what I was raised to hold sacred, that every voice counts, I've bombarded my local paper for years with letters and op-eds (and been active in politics). Yet here in the heart of everyone's favorite "red state," where it's especially important that another voice be heard, no one seemed to be listening. This is my megaphone.

al Qaeda, redefined

A great piece in the Washington Post today, by Steve Coll and Susan B. Glasser, helped me finally get it; I especially like this morsel:
Now more a brand than a tight-knit group, al Qaeda has responded to four years of intense pressure from the United States and its allies by dispersing its surviving operatives, distributing its ideology and techniques for mass-casualty attacks to a wide audience on the Internet, and encouraging new adherents to act spontaneously in its name.

An article well worth reading. Link

This article does not point the "Why" behind the growth of "al Qaeda" in the last four years. The al Qaeda leadership have studied at the feet of the masters, namely US the good ol'USA. We are the best in the world when it comes to "psych warfare" we are masters , and "al Qaeda" has learned well. Consider this simple concept. Everything that "al Qaeda" uses to wage their holy terror war on the world is courtesy of Western technolgy and applied science. The very ideas they find so repulsive, are the sources of the tools they are using to advance their cause.
I know I am using logic and reason the rationalize the behavior of what most would consider irrational behavior, but are we so sure that "al Qaeda" is irrational? because they use violence to advance their political and social agendas. The very arguement can be applied to the western world, and it would fit perfectly. Food for thought

The Iraq war is shaping into a monumental miscalculation. The new brand of terrorists being trained there is much more dangerous than the Afghan-trained lot, who cut their teeth on jungle gyms. The new lot is being hardened in urban combat against American troops draped in the latest gear, and they are not doing too badly.

Just last week, four Islamic terrorists rammed an explosive-laden jeep against the Ayodhya temple/mosque compound, and then stormed the site. This has never happened before, and I wonder if Baghdad-style terror is now heading for India.

I am glad to say that no Indian Muslim has ever been involved in transnational terror.
